Description:
Two guys, hundreds of girls, one complicated scoring system. Spencer and Erwin exploit a dating website to play a game of dares and pranks on unsuspecting singles. Spencer eventually falls in love with a one-dimensional character, and Erwin, thwarting Spencer, finds that he can manipulate the world of a romantic comedy in astounding ways.

Company:
The Diversion Theatre formally And Giggles Production (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)
The Playdaters was first developed at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Milwaukee Fringe and Chicago Fringe mark its professional debut. This piece was inspired by various blind dates and email exchanges from hopeful singles through a popular online dating website. Online dating can be wonderful fun; it is also a fascinating social experiment that reveals magnitudes about how people approach dating and marriage, particularly in the largely unspoken discrepencies between professional romantic ideals and less-than-sensational reality of circumscribed requirements and eventual concessions in the search for a mate.
